New Delhi:When people talk about detox teas, strict diets and other wellness fads, Mouni Roy offers a refreshing take on the idea of good health. The actor's Instagram has been an inspiration for people who are into fitness.
Recently she sat down with Monika from Beauty & Beyond to talk about her experiences in the entertainment industry, nutrition, skincare, confidence and beauty. There is, however, one thing that comes across clearly.
No fad diets for Mouni RoyMany stars are associated with strict eating plans and elaborate nutrition regimens, but Mouni says she prefers a much simpler approach. I don't have time for fad diets. I’m a big believer in a very wholesome, home-cooked meal.”
The actress said she's more focused on getting her nutrition from everyday foods than complicated diet trends. "All your nutrients, rice, dal, protein is from your eggs and iron from saag. "So I like to eat good food." Healthy eating is not about deprivation for Mouni. It’s about... consistency and balance.
A Bengali food connectionAsked about her beauty secrets, Mouni credited her roots. "Well, first of all, I am Bengali so my parents and their parents ate a lot of fish. It comes from that.
Fish has been an integral part of Bengali cuisine for ages and is loaded with protein, omega-3 fatty acids and essential nutrients often linked to healthy skin and hair.
Hydration & Skincare – No Complex Beauty HacksWhen asked repeatedly about her beauty regime, Mouni says there is no magic formula. Instead she sticks to basics. “Regular moisturising, hydration. It is just about the same thing you do.
She offers surprisingly down-to-earth advice in an era of elaborate skincare routines. Cook your own food and take care of your skin in simple ways.
The role of supplementsMouni also swears by supplements apart from healthy eating and skincare. "Multivitamins.
"Overall health is important because my job requires me to work long hours in front of the camera," she said. It is holistic, overall care. I have to look into the camera because that's my job. "I have to take care of my body and my skin.
Beauty and confidence go togetherOne of the most interesting parts of the conversation was when Mouni was asked which one matters more, beauty or confidence. But she said the two often influence each other, not that one or the other is picked. I think it comes together. She understood that sometimes, everyone is not at the top of their game. “Sometimes you feel pretty, you feel more secure. “Some days you’re not feeling the same, on a bad hair day or a bad skin day.”
But she says, looks are never enough. You have to be beautiful, inside and out. You must be a good person. You must be a happy person.
Mouni gave tips to young women trying to build successful careers beyond beauty and fitness. Her answer wasn’t self-love, or confidence. Instead, she pointed to something more practical: “You have to be emotionally independent and financially independent.
